Getting into Party Mode……

Well we’ve conquered double digits now we’re heading straight into the pre-teen years…….

Miss 10 turns into Miss 11 in a few short weeks (just in case we forgot, she keeps reminding us each day!). LOL

So I’ve been squirelling away while she is at school to make some uber cool Loot Bags to have handy to give out to her friends at her birthday party.

These bags are so super secretive that she won’t see them until her actual birthday party.

I’ve been busy in the studio making some jewellery to pop into the bags (I will post about these soon). Let’s just say that it is going to be a “bright” bag of goodies for the girls.

Hand Made Paper Button Embellies

Well it’s been a while since I made some hand made paper buttons to embellish my projects with. I love using my Bigshot and ANY die that I can get my hot little hands on, but my SU Sweet Buttons & Buttons #5 Sizzlit dies are among my favourite.

Have a look at some of the cute buttons I made using these dies and some SAB DSP papers.

To make these little cuties I cut out one of each button using DSP. Then I cut out approx. 5 or 6 of the same button using co-ordinating card stock then adhere each layer together using glue. Once dried I then layer Crystal Effects over the top button and leave to dry.

To attach to your projects and to give them that little bit of extra dimension I use SU Dimensionals to adhere to my projects.

Don’t these little cuties look like real buttons. LOL

Less is More – Week 55 Punches or Dies Challenge

For those of you that have been regular visitors over the years you may have noticed that I am a little bit obsessed with “Owls”. Yes they are addictive. And this week over at the Less is More challenge blog the ladies have challenged us to create a simply Less is More Card using either Punches or Dies.

It’s been a little while since I have played with my cork sheets and made some cute cork owls. Since it’s back to school here in Australia and along with that comes Birthday parties each weekend. So I thought I would design some birthday cards to have on hand.

So here is my latest birthday owl card designs.

Aren’t these little owls so darn cute.

I’m loving my SAB DSP at the moment and will virtually create anything using these papers.

Sunny Challenges #28 – Faux Silk

Happy Sunday everyone and thanks for popping by my little blog today. Miss Vicky over at Sunny Challenges has challenged us this week with a technique. And to tell you the truth I have never attempted the “Faux Silk” technique before this week. So thanks Vicky for making me move out of my comfort zone. So on to this week’s challenge.

And this is my card for this week’s challenge.

This is my homage card to Paris. My most FAVOURITE city in the world. It’s been a few years since we climbed that gorgeous tower in France and I long for the day when I can go back and visit again.

I’ve kept to the colours of France for this card and have used Real Red, Night of Navy and Very Vanilla instead of the traditional “white” on the French flag.

The background “faux silk” was created using the SU Doilies stamp set stamped in co-ordinating colours then tissue paper used to create the “faux silk” effect. In this card I’ve stamped directly onto cardstock instead of the traditional stamping on tissue paper which gives it a slightly different look.

JAI #104 Back to School

It’s now week 4 of the new school year and both my little kidlets are back into the school routine. My youngest Liam who is 4 started “Big School” and has well and truly engrossed himself into the school culture. It’s always hard for a mum sending them off to school especially when they need that extra little bit of attention as a special needs child. Going from a small kindy with 21 kids to a primary school with over 1000 kids hasn’t shaken him at all. Instead he loves being part of the whole school environment which puts a big smile on my face.

So this week over at Just Add Ink they are asking us to embrace all things that come with being a part of a new school year. So I decided to put a little desk caddy together from my almost 11 year old to help her get organised.

As soon as I saw the challenge I knew I had to whip something 3D up to enter. I just couldn’t help myself. I created the caddy using the SU Scallop Square Die.

The little kit comprises of some cutie pie wooden pegs decorated with the new SAB Designer Paper. Don’t you just love the mini pegs as well… 2 Giant Paper Clips and a cute notebook.

These giant paper clips were made using the Monogram Sweet alphabet stamp set, SAB DSP, flattened bottle caps and dome epoxy stickers.

Autumn Wedding

Just a quickie post today to show you some Invite designs that I have been working on.

Love is in the air and so are Autumn Weddings….. I came across a gorgeous colour combo of Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie, Kraft & Whisper White and had some great inspiration to turn this combo into a Wedding Invitation.

I’ve had an idea in my head for some time to use the Stampin’ Up! Scallop Square Die to create an invitation. So when this colour combo presented itself I couldn’t resist.

When completed the invitation fits neatly into a square envelope ready for posting.

Sunny Challenges SC 024/12 Sketch Challenge with a Wedding Theme

This week I got to set another challenge at Sunny Challenges & Creations. It’s been so much fun playing along with the girls and when it came around to me setting another challenge I decided to jump onto the Wedding bandwagon.

I love EVERYTHING about weddings and with brides around the country getting ready for their Autumn weddings I thought this was a great time to get some wedding cards happening.

Here is this week’s sketch.

And here is the card I whipped up to celebrate all things “Wedding”.

I absolutely love the texture of this card. It’s simplistic black and white design says “elegance” beautifully. I’ve used the vintage wallpaper embossing folder to make the white card stock pop off the page. The framed sentiment was made using the SU Lots of Tags Sizzlits die set with the centre punched out using the large oval punch.

Little Miss Birthday

Do you ever notice how as soon as the kids go back to school for another year, no sooner do the birthday invites start pouring in. Our first birthday party for the year is this coming weekend to a sweet little girl who loves all things girly and purple. So I’ve decided to throw together a little gift bag which I’m sure my daughter Yasmin will happy fill with girly treasures for her friend on our shopping trip later this week.

I love making these gift bags using my stash of brown paper bags and adding front and back decorated covers to suit each child’s personality. And what little girl doesn’t love butterflies!

I hope my daughter’s friend loves her little bag of goodies and enjoys the gorgeous party her mum has planned for her 10th Birthday.
